Four years ago Mark Thompson began the night watch for Tonya and Michael Price's son, Charlie, on May 21st, the night of his Bone Marrow Transplant. It inspired many and gave the family much needed strength on that night. We have continued that tradition to try to give some strength to the kiddos and families fighting up in the Children's hospital.
Sunset, Friday May 24th 2024, we will begin the fourth annual Night Watch. This will begin at Kinnick stadium at 8:28PM, with the goal to keep running, walking, or moving forward to the best of my ability until 5:38AM Saturday morning. Anyone is welcome to join for all or part of the loops around Kinnick.
We will also use this event to raise funds for the Children's hospital. 100% of the generous donations go to the kids in the hospital. We donate our total mileage in dollars for the night to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. If you choose to join, we encourage a similar donation, or you can sponsor and match the mileage amount of another runner. If you can't attend you can still give if you wish to do so. Finally, wear bright colors, and try to be have lights on your outfit if possible! You never know what sleepless parent or child is watching you from those hospital windows!
