Help Fund Two Student Library Employee Scholarships
The University Libraries offers a competitive scholarship for undergraduate students working in the Libraries system as a way to recognize, support, and motivate students in their scholarship, research, and creative work at the University. Our student employees provide critical staffing for programs and services benefiting the entire University of Iowa community and are often the first point of contact for our library users. They help set the tone for future interactions with the UI Libraries and our staff. We tap into their valuable student perspective when planning outreach activities and new services. Past recipients have stated “Working in Special Collections is one of my favorite parts of being at the University of Iowa. I’m gaining people skills and learning to be more flexible in my thinking.” Another recipient stated that he enjoys sparking students’ interest through conversation and opening windows to their research. The University of Iowa Libraries employs over 200 student employees across more than 20 departments. The Student Employee Scholarship Fund, started and primarily funded by the staff of the University Libraries, recognizes the achievement and contributions of our fine student employees. The scholarship program is two years old and has awarded 6 student scholarships. Let’s pay it forward and support this scholarship program!
(Please note that your gift will be made to the UI Libraries Student Employee Scholarship Fund and then directed to support this initiative.)
