This year's RED week (November 16-22) was very successful and we look forward to doing more in the future to promote HIV/AIDS awareness around the Iowa City area.
Next semester we plan on holding another Safely Smashing event including a Super Smash Bros tournament for prizes. We would also like to potentially do an event with animals from a shelter. These events are only possible because of the generous support of our donors. The funds we raise will pay for venue spaces, help us purchase supplies for our educational toolbox, and allow us to hold additional fun events for the Iowa City community!
Below are some pictures from this year's events. Our speakers hosted an educational panel. Tami is currently living with HIV and her experiences were truly eyeopening. The first question she always is asked is, "how did you get it?" And the tone is always accusatory. Tami is an amazing speaker and really drove home the fact that HIV isn't just a virus that someone has, but rather something she is actively living with while raising her family. The final picture below is from our annual reading of names ceremony which is always moving.
