Arts in Engineering
Many engineers understand the value of combining the arts with science and technology. The long-term vision of Arts in Engineering Committee is to create and curate digital art within the Seamans Center for Engineering Arts and Sciences. Ultimately we hope to commission new art, that will engage and inspire our community and to demonstrate our leadership in cultural development.
The first step towards this project will be a public monitor on which we can display selected free, high-resolutions digitized artwork from world class museums like the Rijksmuseum and Guggenheim. Art to be displayed on the monitor will be selected by a committee of faculty, staff, students and community members. Later we plan to commission original digital works to be displayed on this monitor, and to add new paintings and installations. Every journey begins with a first step, and you can help us take that step. This is your opportunity to help support Arts In Engineering!
The funding from this GOLDrush campaign will help cover the $2000 cost of the high resolution monitor and computer to display the images.
This combination of art and engineering will inspire University of Iowa students and faculty/staff who pass through these areas everyday in the engineering building. Take a look at our video for more insight on this exciting project!
