It's that time again! August 17-18, we will be hosting our Annual KHAK Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon. This year we will once again be live on air at the Levitt Center in Iowa City on August 17-18 from 6 am to 10 am and then again from 2 pm to 6 pm. However, if you are unable to join us that day, you can donate here on our webpage through August 18th. We ask that you share this link to your social media pages, to your friends through e-mail, however you can help us with our campaign and help local patients and families at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital.
Last year alone UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital treated over 94,000 patients. That includes kids like Aniyah who joined Brain and Courtlin in the studios a short time ago.
These kids like Aniyah come from all over Iowa, all 99 counties in Iowa, all 50 states, and from over 20 different countries. I bet you know more of these patients than you think. These kids come from your hometowns, your neighborhoods, your classrooms, and sometimes even your families. They Skype their teachers to stay caught up with their classmates, they celebrate their birthdays with their nurses, and they play hide and seek through the halls of their unit and hide behind vending machines.
Unfortunately, these patients and families don’t choose to battle life threatening illness or injury and go through what can be really tough treatments, but they do choose to come to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital for it. There they can provide the high level of life saving care they do because of the money you all so selflessly donate. Without each one of you, we wouldn’t be able to make miracles happen. But because of you, we do.
We get to be here today with our happy and healthy kiddos to celebrate life and hope and there really is so much of it to celebrate! But- there is also a patient in the hospital right now fighting for their next breath. Every dollar you donate goes towards giving that patient another chance at the life they deserve.
Throughout our campaign that runs August 17-18, 2023. You will still hear stories from patients and families who have been directly impacted by Children’s Miracle Network and the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital. We hope that those touching stories will inspire you to make a donation to the organization, with 100% of the proceeds staying right here in the Corridor. Radiothon is easily our favorite and most important event that we do here at KHAK, so we are looking forward to another record-breaking year in 2023. Last year we raised a total of $136,000 to help support kids at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s hospital like Aniyah.
